A few studies suggest that working out with a buddy can help you exercise more. Whether
it’s your neighbor, your life partner, or a friend from work, having a buddy to workout with is one of the best ways to keep your exercise commitments, have some cool fun, and break
out of an exercise rut. This blog post offers some valuable ideas of specific fun training
workouts you can do with a partner. These couple exercises can be altered to your comfort
level and are designed to be fun and motivating. Let’s commence!
Rock, Paper, Scissors, Plank
You’ve most probably seen (or done) high-five partner planks. You with your partner get in a planking position facing each other and give high fives with alternating hands. High-fiving not only acts as a motivation boost for your partner, but also helps improve your stability while you remove one point of contact with the ground.
However, you could make it a little more fun. Rather than high-fiving, play a few rounds of
rock, paper, scissors. Try going for 7 rounds, with the one who loses must remain in plank
form for an additional 60 seconds.
Medicine Ball Sit-ups
Sit-ups are not deemed as the most fun exercise on the planet, but they can be more
comfortable with a partner. For doing this one, both partners must get in sit-up position, face to face, with one partner holding the medicine ball. Both partners will do a sit-up at the same time and pass the medicine ball between one another.
To make this a little more fun partner training workout, set a timer on your mobile device for a random number of seconds. Whoever is holding the ball as the timer goes off must perform 10 burpees.
Wheelbarrow Push-ups
Remember participating in wheelbarrow races in grade school? It’s time to go back to the
schoolyard mindset with wheelbarrow push-ups. One partner will take up a plank position.
The other partner will slowly lift the planked partner’s ankles (be sure they don’t topple
over!). Then, the planked partner will perform push-ups while the other partner squats. This exercise is perfect for improving stability and for multi-tasking.
Leapfrog
Speaking of schoolyard games, an ageless game of leapfrog is a great way to work on your
coordination and leg strength. Partner A will squat on the ground, and Partner B will push off of their shoulders to hop over partner A, landing in front of them. Then, Partner B will get down and Partner A will jump. To make this exercise all the more challenging, perform three deep squats after landing.
Jump Rope Sequence Race
It’s fun to have a little friendly competition to get your motivation going with your workout
partner. This jump rope fun partner training workout is very popular in gyms everywhere
and is one of the favorites of gym goers. The goal? See who can accomplish a jump rope
sequence the fastest. Here’s how your jump rope sequence will look like:
- 100 basic jumps
- 80 alternate foot jumps
- 60 jump rope jacks
- 40 double unders
- 20 burpees
Conclusion
These 5 workouts are fun to try with your partner.
