The Useful Rotating Storage Cabinet

Let’s be honest. The problem with storage, or the “storage headache,” is not new to most companies. Paper stacks on desks and boxes piled up in office areas used to be places to store things. It’s funny that sometimes both of those things are still the case!

But over time, those less-than-ideal systems gave way to the lateral filing box and other fixed shelving systems. Shelving units that stay in one place have been around longer than your great grandma. Don’t get me wrong—these systems have also changed over time, but they still help businesses with their storage and record-keeping problems. But since the lateral file revolution, many other ways to handle materials have been created in the never-ending quest to make things more efficient and fix issues with room.

Come into the rotary storage box. As someone who has worked in sales and installation for many years in the material handling business, I will talk about this rotary cabinet’s main features and the best ways to use it.

What a Rotary Storage Unit Can Do?

At its most basic, a rotation storage cabinet is a cabinet that can turn inside a cabinet that stays in place. The rotary unit is built on the base assembly, which has an axle on which the inner cabinet spins.

You can turn the inside unit by pressing a foot button, a hand-controlled release, or a keypad. The inside unit should spin and stop every quarter turn. It has two shelves, one in the front and one in the back, for storing media. In other words, if you started with the rotary unit closed, the first quarter turn would show an open bank of shelves, the second quarter turn would show a solid closed panel, the third quarter turn would show another open bank of shelves, and the fourth quarter turn would bring you back to the solid closed panel position.

You can store more things in less space. Most of the time, rotary storage is shown as an option or replacement for file cabinets on the side. Rotary cabinets are a minor way to store things that still make the most of the room they have. Because it takes up less room, businesses can use more floor space without giving up storage space.

For example, one 7-tier rotary unit can hold three 36″ lateral files using half the space. This frees up space that was being stored to be used for more valuable things, like meeting rooms, joint workspaces, or extra office space for staff. • Letter files are 25 inches deep, and legal files are 31 inches deep.

Note: The sizes may be different based on the maker.

Different Rotary Cabinets Shelf Setups

There are several ways to set up the tier area inside a rotary unit:

The inside of your rotating unit can be changed anytime to fit different media types if your storage needs to change.
