Fuzzy and frizzy beards – how to prevent it

How a man’s beard grows depends on a variety of physical factors. Testosterone levels, genetics, age, and stress levels all play a role in the speed at which a beard grows and the fullness with which it develops. During this process, many men are confronted with frizzy beards which can be irritating for both the man growing the beard and his partner.

At the end of the day, facial hair is just that – hair. It can become dry (or oily) and develop split ends and some unruliness if not properly moisturized. In surveys, most bearded men recommend avoiding daily shampooing with conventional shampoos and shampooing the Beard Oil once or twice a week. Most shampoos tend to dry hair out quickly to reduce the “oily look” that many try to avoid.

In terms of daily care and maintenance

Depending on the size and shape of your beard (and subsequent manscaping needs), either a natural beard oil or beard wax is ideal. For most men who don’t have a great need for shaping, all natural beard oils are all they need. Made largely from a variety of essential oils and vitamin blends, beard oils are great for moisturizing both the hair and the facial skin underneath. These are especially beneficial for men who live in areas with extreme temperatures (either hot or cold) and are prone to dry skin.

To prevent itching and frizzy hair, the beard oil can best beard oil be applied from the skin upwards. The trick is to put a few drops directly into your hand, rub your hands together, and then work the oil in from the base of your skin (facial skin) up through your beard. With regular use, this should be a fairly easy process and there should be no knots or tangles that make it difficult to run hands through the beard. Depending on the size of the beard, different amounts of beard oil are required.

For men who need more detailed grooming or styling, beard waxes can be ideal. These often contain natural ingredients as well as some form of wax or gel that can help the hair stay in place. Most brands offer products with natural ingredients and relatively harmless scents. Waxes are just as easy to apply as beard oils – some require the addition of water before application, but either way they can be massaged into the hair and then used to style as needed. These often contain moisturizing elements (think coconut oil, grapeseed oil, and jojoba oil) and, with regular use, can help tame dry and frizzy beards.
