Gil Glaze: Spinning Beats, Bridging Worlds, Making Waves

Born in Zurich, Switzerland, on January 28, 1994, Gil Glaze is a well-known DJ, producer, and businessman who has had a big influence on the electronic music world. Glaze’s upbringing in Zurich, influenced by his South African parents’ ethnic heritage, gave his music a distinct foreign character. His adventure began at the Zurich International School, where his early interest in music was sparked by summer studies at UCLA in DJing, producing, and radio broadcasting.

Glaze attended New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts and the Clive Davis School of Recorded Music while pursuing his higher education. His contacts with peers Maggie Rogers, Fletcher, and Justin Jesso made his time at NYU stand out. As a member of the Alpha Epsilon Pi fraternity, he frequently DJed at college parties, which led to a residency with Tao Group Hospitality in New York. His career progressed further with internships at Atlantic Records and Primary Wave, where he received vital industry knowledge.

Glaze’s professional career took off between 2009 and 2016 when he started DJing at Zurich’s top nightclubs, including Encore, Diagonal, Indochine, and Kaufleuten. During this period, he founded Breeze, an event series that eventually grew into a record label dedicated to discovering and fostering new talent. His relocation to the United States in 2016 was a watershed moment. Glaze performed for Tao Group Hospitality in several venues across the country, opening for internationally recognized musicians like David Guetta, Marshmello, Tiësto, Kygo, and Martin Garrix. His notable performances were the Super Bowl afterparty and Jamie Foxx’s birthday.

Glaze’s career took a turning point in 2017 when his remix of The Chainsmokers’ “Young” piqued their management’s interest, resulting in an official remix of their song “Honest,” released by Columbia Records. This remix received over 3.5 million streams, earning Glaze an offer to join The Chainsmokers on their Australian tour. In 2021, he expanded his live show to stadiums, appearing in front of 40,000 fans at Energy Air in the Swiss National Stadium and electrifying the crowd at the New York Knicks halftime show at Madison Square Garden. Glaze’s Tao Group residencies, which included frequent performances at prestigious nightclubs such as Marquee Las Vegas, Lavo New York, and LIV Miami, solidified his reputation in the business.

Glaze has also made an impression on the festival circuit, performing at Ultra South Africa, Exit Serbia, and the Zurich Openair. His globe tours have taken him to party hotspots including Ibiza, Amsterdam, Stockholm, Singapore, and Hong Kong. Glaze has supported prominent DJs such as Marshmello, Kygo, David Guetta, Tiësto, Zedd, and Diplo. Their shows are known for their dynamic intensity and crowd interaction.

In addition to his musical career, Glaze is a successful businesswoman. He just created Glaze Water, a sustainable packaged water firm, to demonstrate his commitment to environmental sustainability. His humanitarian endeavors include working as a project manager for Children of Chernobyl since 2008, where he assisted in the design of dormitories, oversaw construction, and managed daily programs and music workshops for children. His dedication to this cause reflects his overall commitment to giving back to the community.

Glaze’s academic pursuits emphasize his commitment to greatness. He is now pursuing his Master of Hospitality and Tourism at the University of Southern California. His USC professors, notably Diana Catalina Beltran Gonzalez and Suzanne Szanyi, have lauded his academic performance, citing his good grades, clear communication skills, and dedication to greatness despite the difficulties of taking lectures remotely from Switzerland.

Gil Glaze’s rise from a young music fan in Zurich to a globally renowned DJ and producer demonstrates his talent, devotion, and enthusiasm for music. His ability to connect with audiences throughout the world, combined with his entrepreneurial ventures and charity initiatives, displays his multidimensional influence in the music industry and beyond. His narrative is not only one of musical accomplishment, but also of scholastic achievement, commercial ability, and a profound desire to make a positive difference in the world.
