t is very difficult to establish a figure as the average of what a pediatrician earns , since the amount varies greatly from one autonomous community to another, although, in general, it is usually established around 3,200 net euros per month.
In Spain, the responsibilities related to health are transferred to the autonomous communities, so that they are the ones that establish how much a doctor charges for different variables, which will ultimately be the ones that determine his payroll. In addition, it is important to take into account other parameters such as seniority, which causes the doctor’s salary to increase every three years.
What are the main variables that affect the salary of a pediatrician?
In the case of doctors specialized in Pediatrics , there are two variables that greatly influence the salary they receive at the end of the month. The first one is the destination complement , that is, the money they receive depending on the community where they work. Likewise, your place of work -hospital, health center, etc.- will also condition the amount of the rest of the supplements.
Another of the most important contributions to the payroll of pediatricians are guards, depending on the number that are made, the base salary can be greatly increased . The service in which the work is performed is also taken into account.
Similarly, thetype of contract , if it is part-time or full-time, and the fact, or not, of combining it with your private practice is also reflected in the income obtained at the end of the month.
Where does a pediatrician earn more: in public or private health?
In general, in Spain, all professions related to health receive a higher salary working for the public sector than for the private sector. In this case, the decrease is estimated at around 500 euros per month less on average , although this figure, as we have commented, is very difficult to calculate.
