In 2000, Yamaha Corporation of America became a subsidiary of Yamaha Holdings Corporation, which is a subsidiary of FK Holdings, which is based in Japan. FK Holdings is a holding company with operations in a variety of business fields such as electronics, transportation, hotels, restaurants, publishing, and insurance. Yamaha Corporation of America is the name that was used by the company before the change to the current name in 1998. The current name has been used since the company changed to a wholly owned subsidiary of Yamaha Holdings Corporation in 2000. The original company produced pianos, organ, and electronic musical instruments until 2001. The company produced electronic musical instruments until 2003. The current products include sound systems, music systems, amplifiers, and receivers, as well as music and video software.
