How to Draw A Dinosaur
Step 1
In the first step of this tutorial on how to draw a dinosaur, we’ll start from the top! Brontosaurus has a small, prominent head, so we’ll start with that in this guide.
You can draw the little head using some curved lines as it looks in the reference image.
The picture should help you, but if you have trouble with the shape, you can try with a pencil until you succeed.
Step 2
A brontosaurus’ neck is probably its most distinctive feature, so we’ll consider it in the next step.
Draw two curved lines down from the head of your dinosaur drawing to draw it.
The reference image will give you a good idea of what length and angle to aim for in your drawing.
Step 3
Now that you have the head and neck of your dinosaur drawing, it’s time to draw a back for it!
This step will be easy as you can use a line that curves up and down, like in the picture, to create a back for the dinosaur.
Step 4
As you can see, your dinosaur is now really taking shape! In this step, we will add a long tail to your dinosaur drawing.
To do this, you can use a nice long line that will curve over itself as it looks in the picture. You could change the angle of the tail a bit to make it look like it’s wagging like a dog!
Step 5
Your dinosaur drawing needs some legs to stand upright. So let’s add some in this step! The brontosaurus’ legs are thick at the top and taper towards the bottom.
In this step, we will only add the legs closest to us and add the other two legs later.
Step 6
For this shorter step, let’s add the other legs.
These are easy to add, as all you need is two curved lines behind the legs you drew to make the legs look like the reference image.
You can even change the position of the legs a bit if you want to give your dinosaur a different pose!
You could even make your dinosaur look like it’s walking by slightly changing its position.
Step 7
Step 7 of this How to Draw a Dinosaur guide is an opportunity to get creative! You only need a nice face and some minor line details to complete your dinosaur drawing.
You can reproduce these details as they appear in the reference image, but feel free to edit some details if you want to give your image a unique look! For example, you could change the facial expression of your dinosaur drawing to create a fun twist.
Step 8
Your dinosaur drawing is almost done, and I’m sure it looks great! Before that’s done, however, one more look needs to be taken.
This step will be a lot of fun because you can let your creativity run wild while coloring your beautiful dinosaur drawing!
